Brian S. Glatt, MD, FACS, recommends the article “Mammograms not sole test”

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Brian S. Glatt, MD, FACS, of Morristown, NJ, recommends the Asbury Park Press article “Mammograms not sole test”.

The Asbury Park Press will be featuring a weeklong series focusing on breast cancer.  In one article, Dr. Paul Friedman, Medical Director of the Carol W. and Julius A. Rippel Breast Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital, discusses mammograms.

“The Carol W. and Julius A. Rippel Breast Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital, which performs some 8,600 mammographies a year, recently started the MI-CARE (Mammography with Immediate Communication And Results of Exam) program.  To reduce anxiety for women getting their very first mammography, the center guarantees an immediate read of their mammograms and even on-the-spot follow-up views.

“First-time mammography patients do have higher rates of callback,” said Dr. Paul Friedman, medical director of the center.  Radiologists generally want additional views, he explained, because they have no baseline images that make it easier to spot changes and abnormalities.”  (from APP.com)
