Glatt, MD, FACS is one of the first Plastic Surgeons in the country to offer treatment with Kybella, the first and only FDA approved injectable drug for the noninvasive treatment of moderate to severe submental fullness (neck fat), commonly referred to as a “double chin”.
Submental fullness, a common complaint of both males and females, is often resistant to diet and exercise, instead being influenced by aging and genetics. Until the release of Kybella the only method to remove submental fat was surgical liposuction or a face and neck lift.
Kybella is administered by Dr. Glatt, a highly skilled injector, who customizes each treatment to achieve the best aesthetic result. Each in-office session consists of a series of tiny injections directly into the fat under the chin. Upon injection the fat cells are dissolved, allowing Dr. Glatt to resculpt the chin area. Each treatment session takes 15 to 20 minutes, with additional time for pre-treatment numbing. A series of two to four sessions approximately one month apart are necessary for optimal results. The most common side effects are bruising, swelling and redness, which subside in a short time. Fat reduction is long lasting and persists even despite overall weight gain. Once the desired results are achieved, retreatment with Kybella is not expected to be needed.
