What can I expect during CoolSculpting treatment?

During the treatment, your nurse will apply the cold gel applicator, which consists of two cooling plates, to the treatment area. The skin is then pulled into the applicator by mild vacuum pressure. You may be slightly uncomfortable by the sensation of a firm pull and pressure; enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. Any discomfort typically goes away within the first five to ten minutes of treatment. CoolSculpting does not require anesthetic and each application takes one hour.

Who is an appropriate candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is for individuals close to their ideal body weight who have small areas of stubborn fat pockets, such as belly bulges, love handles or back fat, that do not respond to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting will permanently eliminate 25% of the fat cells in the treated areas. Both men and women can benefit from CoolSculpting and it is safe for all skin types. In our practice we treat both men and women, from 21 to 65 years old.

Are there any restrictions after a CoolSculpting treatment?

After the treatment is completed, you may immediately return to your normal activities, including work and exercise. Some patients may experience temporary redness, mild bruising, swelling, and/or tenderness to the treated area(s). Typically, no one will be aware you had a procedure performed, but only notice the gradual reduction of fat in the area treated.

When will I see the results of my treatment?

You can begin to see some results as soon as four weeks to two months after treatment. Final results are seen within three months of treatment. You may re-treat an area after 30 days.
