CoolSculpt approved for fat reduction of thigh area
Zeltiq Aesthetics, Inc. has announced that it received Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for use of its clinically-proven CoolSculpting procedure to treat the entire thigh area. CoolSculpting, which is already FDA-approved for the abdomen and flank areas, is a non-surgical procedure that permanently reduces fat in the treated areas. During the procedure, controlled cooling targets and crystalizes fat cells, which are naturally eliminated from the body in the weeks following treatment, with optimum results seen at three months post-procedure.
Now, with the newly released CoolSmooth applicator, the area from the outer thighs (saddle bags) to the inner thighs can be successfully treated with CoolSculpting, resulting in noninvasive, permanent removal and reduction of fat. The non-vacuum based cooling easily treats fat bulges and the comfortable design adjusts to fit each individual patient. The CoolSmooth applicator can conform to any body type without the need for tissue redundancy. Instead of the cooling plates being located in the sides of a suction apparatus, the plates can be laid directly on the areas of the excessive fat. The CoolSmooth hand piece has opened up this treatment to virtually everyone; even those who need only very small amounts of fat reduction.
