Male Cosmetic Surgery and Treatments

Recently released statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery report that men in the United States had more than 1 million cosmetic procedures last year.  The top five surgical procedures for males were:

  1. Liposuction
  2. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)
  3. Rhinoplasty (nose surgery)
  4. Male breast reduction (gynecomastia surgery)
  5. Otoplasty (ear surgery)

In addition to these surgical procedures, the practice of Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Brian S. Glatt, MD, FACS has also experienced an increase in the number of male patients seeking non-surgical procedures and treatments.

Many of our male patients seek Botox treatment of the furrows of their forehead and between their eyes, which produce a tired or unhappy appearance.    Men are also often concerned with the development of crow’s feet around their eyes, which age the face.  Dr. Glatt’s treatment of these areas with Botox produces superior aesthetic results, while still allowing the untreated muscles of the forehead to work normally, so facial expression can still be exhibited when smiling, frowning or looking surprised.

Another treatment often requested by men is the administration of Botox for excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis).  This FDA approved treatment is quick and effective, and results in significant reduction of underarm sweating, which typically lasts nine to twelve months.

Many male patients are seeking treatment with CoolSculpting to eliminate areas of stubborn fat of the abdomen, flanks or chest, which do not respond to exercise. CoolSculpting is an FDA cleared, non-invasive, effective procedure that “freezes” fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated from the body in the weeks following treatment.
