The face is often the first area of the body to show signs of aging. Excessive sun exposure, effects of nicotine, gravity, and heredity all play a part in the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and folds on the face. Radiesse®
Radiesse® is an injectable facial filler that can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Designed for safety, durability and longevity, Radiesse® is composed of micron-sized calcium-based particles in a water-based gel carrier. These particles form a scaffold around which the body generates new collagen , a critical protein that ensures the skin’s elasticity and strength. As we age, collagen production slows, and skin is more likely to wrinkle and sag. Radiesse® injections reduce the effects of aging by increasing collagen production at a time when the body’s supply would normally be decreasing. Radiesse® can boost collagen production for up to two years.
This filler is gently injected into the skin in small amounts and is particularly well suited for treatment of the wrinkles between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds) and other facial aesthetic applications. Juvéderm™
Juvéderm treatment produces results that are smooth and natural looking. The injections contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that adds volume and smoothes wrinkles by filling and hydrating facial lines and tissues. Juvéderm™ can diminish the appearance of “smile lines” and nasolabial folds, the deep wrinkles that run from the nose to the mouth. While the substance in Juvéderm™ is similar to that of Restylane®, it contains a higher concentration of the active agent and is formulated to last longer. Patients do not have to take an allergy test prior to treatment; Juvéderm injections do not cause allergic reactions. No downtime is associated with Juvéderm injections. Patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure. Juvéderm™ is the first FDA-approved injectable filler that is safe and effective in treating people of color. Restylane®
Dr. Glatt is extremely well-versed in the use of Restylane®, as he is with all of the latest injectable filler materials. Restylane® can treat fine lines, reduce the appearance of deeper wrinkles and folds, add facial volume, or enlarge lips. This treatment contains hyaluronic acid, a substance that is found naturally in the body and helps keep the skin lubricated and moisturized. When injected into facial skin, the hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules that fill, hydrate, and smooth the treatment area. Restylane® injections are safe, effective, and produce results that can be noticed immediately. No recovery period is needed following the treatment. Patients who receive Restylane® injections during their lunch hour can return to work that same afternoon. Restylane® injections produce a natural looking, youthful glow that can last for up to six months. Sculptra®
Sculptra® is one of the newest injectable filler agents, and Dr. Glatt’s patients have reported a high degree of satisfaction with the results. This injectable was initially used primarily to treat individuals with HIV who suffer from a disease called lipoatrophy, which causes facial fat to disappear. Sculptra® restores facial volume by increasing the production of the body’s own collagen. The extra collagen increases skin thickness and helps fill out sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollows beneath the eyes. Strategic use of Sculptra® can dramatically increase volume which can lift target areas and restore more youthful contours. Although it may take four to six weeks before changes become fully noticeable, the effects of Sculptra® injections typically last two to three years.
