Professional Skin Care for Men

Professional skin care for men at Premier Plastic Surgery Center of New Jersey, located in Morristown, is the first in a series of four articles exploring male cosmetic procedures and treatments offered by Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Brian S. Glatt, MD, FACS.

The practice of Brian S. Glatt, MD, FACS has always included a number of male patients, but in the past few years, Premier Plastic Surgery Center of New Jersey has seen a great increase in the number of men seeking cosmetic plastic surgery to enhance their appearance.  The need to look and feel younger has led many men to change their attitudes about exercise and diet, and they are now seeking professional skin care services, Botox and non-invasive injectable filler treatments, as well as cosmetic surgery procedures (plastic surgery).  Our Morristown, NJ location provides a discreet and private setting for men to feel comfortable undergoing treatment and discussing their plastic surgical goals.  Below are just a few of the many options available to our male clientele.

Professional Skin Care

Medical grade skin care treatment and products are an integral part of facial rejuvenation.  Male skin is physiologically different from women’s skin.  Men’s have a higher concentration of blood vessels, especially around the cheekbones, their skin is oilier, and daily shaving aggravates the skin.

Our professional grade skin care products such as Purifying Cleanser by Skinceuticals, Obagi’s Action (a non-greasy moisturizer useful after shaving), Biogel by Neocutis (to reduce fine lines and treat minor skin irritation) are perfect for male skin, and one of our sun screen products is a necessity!

Medically supervised skin care treatments help to repair the damage of sun exposure and lessen the ongoing effects of aging.  A combination of skin care treatments, such as light chemical peels and professional grade skin care products will produce improvement in skin tone, texture, and brightness and a reduction in fine lines and unwanted pigmentation.

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), such as glycolic, lactic or salicylic acids are the mildest of the chemical peel formulas that produce a light peel and superficial rejuvenation of the skin.  These peels provide smoother, brighter-looking skin for people who can’t spare the time to recover from a heavier and deeper phenol or TCA peel which can be more effective, but requires true downtime after application.  AHA peels may be used to treat fine lines, dryness, uneven pigmentation, and acne.  Various concentrations of an AHA may be applied weekly or at longer intervals to obtain the best result.
