The FDA just recently approved the first agent to be used topically to grow the eyelashes! The maker of Botox, Allergan, is in the process of making this product available for distribution by physicians. Dr. Glatt will be one of the first practices in the area to offer this treatment for sale and provide guidance on its use. Latisse, as it will be called, is a topical gel-like treatment which will naturally grow the eyelashes to a desired length by regular, easy applcations.
Great eyelashes don’t just happen overnight, and the effects of Latisse do take some time to work. Latisse works gradually, with results starting to be seen at 4 weeks and full results evident after 16 weeks. Once you begin treatment, you may actually start to see results in as little as 4 weeks, but you must continue applying the topical treatment each night and follow the directions for best and long-lasting results. Remember, the results will be gradual over time. Your eyelashes will experience real, measurable growth. Latisee works from the inside out and as the treatment progresses, you’ll begin to see changes in length, thickness, and darkness gradually. After 16 weeks, you will see the full effects of Latisse as will others!
There are some important precautions, however, that must be discussed with patients before beginning treatment. Latisse is a prescription product that can only be dispensed by doctors, so make sure to discuss Latisse with Dr. Glatt prior to starting to use it. In addition, the changes in eyelash length are reversible, so that when one stops using Latisse, the eyelashes will resume their pre-treatment length over time (for better or worse).
We expect Latisse to be a very popular item, and we at the Premier Plastic Surgery Center of New Jersey will be available to help answer any questions you may have. As more information becomes available, we will provide it to you here, so check back often. Once available for purchase, Dr. Glatt will be sure to let you know! Get ready to have those fabulous eyelashes you always wanted!
